Yarra Plenty Regional Library acknowledges the Wurundjeri, Woi-wurrung peoples of the Kulin Nation as the Traditional Owners of this Land, paying respects to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Elders past, present and emerging who have resided in the area. We support the Uluru Statement from the Heart.
murnong Library 
Offically opened!
 
The new library in the murnong Community Centre in Donnybrook hosted an event to celebrate it's opening on Saturday 21 February and had 1052 visitors through the doors!
 
We welcomed 74 new members and 122 items were borrowed! 
 
Storytimes have already started every Wednesday at 10.30am. Make sure you come and check murnong out!

Children's Membership
All new child members (ages 0-12) can choose from one of six new limited-edition library membership cards designed by local artists AND they will receive a free library bag.*
(*while stocks last)
 
ALL children can grab a passport booklet with activities and can go into the draw to WIN awesome LEGO prizes!

Explore The World We Can Build Exhibition
The World We Can Build exhibition is a collaborative community exhibition celebrating stories, diversity and connection. The exhibition is made up of hundreds of book buildings and LEGO playgrounds, created by community organisations and members. 
 
It is inspired by the picture book The World We Can Build  which is about accessibility, disability, and imagining a better world together. This initiative is supported by ALIA and delivered in partnership with the Office for Social Cohesion, Department of Home Affairs and Banyule City Council.

  • Crafting The World We Can Build: a community drop-in session with artist and curator Fleassy Malay. Help shape a collaborative landscape, creating buildings and urban elements that will become part of the exhibition. 

  • Make a Mini Version of You for The World We Can Build: a community drop-in session with Annie Ronzan, contestant from LEGO® Masters Australia to make yourself as a mini-figure to place in the city..

  • Build Your Piece of The World We Can Build: community drop-in session led by artist and curator Fleassy Malay. Contribute to a shared landscape by creating small elements or people to add to our growing exhibition world.

Explore the exhibition up close, immerse yourself in the stories that celebrate inclusion and belonging, and have a book personally signed by Sally and Eliza. Books will be available to purchase.

Storytime Sessions 
Storytimes help children to develop important language skills and social connections. We offer  over 40 Storytimes every week across our locations.
 
Sessions include: Baby, Toddler, Preschool, Family, Relaxed and sessions in community languages (Chinese, Italian, First Nations, German, Greek, and Spanish). We also have some Auslan interpreted sessions.
